Leonard specialises in management development, communications skills and personal effectiveness.
Leonard has more than 10 years’ experience in training, operations, people, and project management in the public sector in Singapore. Before joining =mc, he was a senior naval officer, specialising in training teams for operational effectiveness.
Over the past few months, I have been working with individuals from GOSH, Academy of Medical Sciences and NIHR on Assertive Conversations, helping them to get into an assertive mindset and provide them with tools to practice and prepare for those difficult conversations.
I have also been delivering project management training for University of Sussex Students’ Union, V&A and our most recent open programme in September. I’ve shared my experiences on projects and worked with them on their project management approach. The practical tools and techniques from our Project Management programme help make projects feel less daunting and ensure successful outcomes.
To help individuals to communicate even more effectively on their presentations, my colleagues and I been working with Doncaster Community Arts, Local Trust, V&A and UNICEF UK on our Presentation Skills programme. I remain in awe of the impact that the programme has had on the participants in two days of training.
In the next few weeks, I will be working with Trussell, Waythrough and Evolve Housing helping them to identify and deal with ‘time thieves’. I particularly enjoyed our conversations on prioritising long and short-term goals. Managing Multiple Priorities provides tools and tips on how to deal with a heavy workload and procrastination. I am using these tools daily and finding them helpful in situations when everything feels like a priority.
Prior to working in =mc, I was in various management roles in the Singapore Navy and managed small teams of 3 to larger teams of 30, in areas such as training, communications and operations. My work in those areas provided me a great foundation in my ability to manage people, deliver training and motivate teams.
Back in Singapore, I volunteered with Action for AIDS, where I administered anonymous HIV tests and provided sexual health advice, to support their mission of ending HIV transmission in Singapore.
Outside of volunteering, I am also an Oxford Imp, an improv comedy troupe that entertains audience with unscripted comedy and games. As an improviser, I strive to create a safe and collaborative space for everyone to have fun and thrive in. As a learning and development consultant, I will bring that same energy to create a fun, learning environment for all participants. See you on our next programme!
